It always seems to be an aspiration, cycling up mountains, trail riding, a bit like the fell running, always better in the mind than the execution. So I think I have decided to keep the old bike I have which is suspension less but probably good enough for trails and tracks. This is alongside of the realisation last Saturday that I have to take a break, the money is going to have to go on a holiday. Then review things over the winter, I need a plan and a big project for next year.

Ask ten different cyclists and you’ll probably get ten different answers. I think the trick is to be totally honest with yourself about what you will use the bike for and then get the most appropriate one. I suspect 99% of the mountain bikes sold in Britain have never seen a mountain.

From what I remember from last year they are representative! It was one my first fell races last year and it was blazing hot. I don't think that's going to be too much of a problem this year.

It was too far on the training I've been doing. I really wanted to get well in under the 2:30 mark given I did 10 miles last year at 1:27. Next the Jelly Tea......

That sounds like a respectable time to me.
I always want to enter that race but it never fits in with my childcare arrangements. Maybe next year?

You really do have my sympathy; I had similar problems a while back. When I went to see my GP and explained my symptoms his response was:
“Tell me about it Bryan, I’ve just had the same thing myself and it took a fortnight to get rid of it. You sometimes vomit so much you have to carry a bucket around with you.”

Not exactly the most reassuring words I’ve heard from a doctor but the medication did work.

I thought that too, initially I thought it was to do with the road crossings and having to stop but that's not all. I'm wondering if it's somthing to do or some artefact of the recording by the Garmin Foreunner. My cardiologist friend hasn't commented adversly about it though, other than the usual "you're mad".
