Brexit

A couple of years ago, 23rd June 2016 to be exact, the UK held a  referendum on its membership of the European Union.

The resulting vote, in favour of leaving the EU, caused the Government to trigger the process of withdrawal from the Union as set out in Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union. This process has become known as “Brexit

Withdrawal from the European Union is the legal and political process whereby an EU member state ceases to be a member of the Union. Under Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU), “Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements”.
